general information

Created from Muskingum County in 1810, Coshocton (pronounced CO-SHOCK-TON) County, which gets its name from the derivative of a Native American word meaning “union of waters,” lies against a beautiful rural setting in central Ohio where the Tuscarawas and Walhonding Rivers meet to form the Muskingum.

The City of Coshocton is home to many historic and wonderful things. Among them are the Coshocton County Board of MRDD’s Hopewell School and Hopewell Industries.

Hopewell School provides individualized educational opportunities for children with disabilities of Coshocton County with mental retardation and/or developmental disabilities. Our curriculum is aligned with the Ohio Academic Content Standards for maximum learning capacity for each child.

Hopewell Industries enables adults with MRDD to lead productive, meaningful lives by empowering them to achieve individual goals through employment opportunities and habilitation.

As the lead agency for those with disabilities, the Coshocton County Board of MRDD partners with many private provider agencies and local businesses to meet the needs of those served.
