habilitation The Hopewell Industries Day Habilitation Program partners in the community to provide learning opportunities for people with disabilities. Specifically developed for Hopewell clients, the day hab Module System offers structured learning opportunities throughout the entire day during those times when paid work is not available or not the choice for the client. Emphasis is placed on learning which occurs as much as possible in the community. Module, or training, topics are developed based on input through the clients' responses on the Career and Interests Survey which is administered to each individual. Over one hundred different activities are addressed, including the option of write-ins which allow the client to declare interest in areas not included on the survey. Examples of modules developed by clients with the assistance of trainers: woodworking, volunteering, crafts, gardening, fund raising, sports, scouting, job club, computers, money management, and sewing. Over forty different modules have been developed since the program began in September, 2006. Module topics change on a quarterly basis, with the most popular running year round. Module development is the responsibility of assigned trainers who hold Registration certification with the Ohio Dept. of DD. These trainers also provide daily assistance with socialization skills and personal care needs. They receive on-going professional growth opportunities, including ODDD requirements for continuing education. This dedicated and well-trained staff demonstrates on a daily basis that our program is all about our clients.
